Welcome to The $1 Experiment (dollarexperiment.org). This Privacy Policy explains how data is collected, handled, and displayed as part of this sociological research project.

1. Information Collected & Public Visibility

Because this is a fully transparent social experiment, certain information provided during the secure checkout phase is streamed live to our public database ledger:

• Name: The name you input during Stripe checkout will be displayed on the public ledger. If you wish to remain anonymous, you may opt to hide your name on Stripe, or leave it blank to default as "Anonymous Stranger."
• Public Message: Any optional text left in the "Public Message" input field will be rendered publicly next to your contribution.
• Contribution Amount: The financial value of your transfer is displayed publicly to maintain accurate milestone metrics.

2. Secure Payment Processing

Financial transactions are securely managed entirely by Stripe. We never see, store, or have access to your full credit card numbers, billing addresses, or private financial credentials. Your payment processing is bound by Stripe's global Privacy Policy.

3. Data Retention & Deletion

Data stored in our database ledger is kept indefinitely to serve as historical data for the experiment. If you have contributed to the project and wish to have your name or comment manually deleted or anonymized from the public scoreboard, please contact us at our dedicated inbox.

4. Children's Privacy

This experiment does not knowingly collect data from or target individuals under the age of 13.
